Introduction

There are about 80,000 books in the central library. The departments maintain a separate library with a good number of text books and reference books. The college subscribes to 34 journals and periodicals. A Library plays a vital role in the search of knowledge. It serves as the workshop for the entire college – students and faculty alike. Sri Venkateswara Arts College Library aims to support the teaching learning activity in the college and also provide the students updated knowledge and to ensure the optimum utilization of the available resources.

Rules of the college Library

1. The Library works on all working days from 9.30 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.
2. The Library is open to all the students and staff on the college.
3. Under the books scheme, two books will be issued to B.C., S.C., and S.T. candidates for a term on production of caste certificates signed by the Mandal Revenue Officer.
4. Issue of books will be on all working days of Monday, Wednesday and Friday and returns on all working days of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10.00 A.M to 5.00 P.M.
5. Each member of staff is entitled to borrow 20 tickets and a Reasearch scholar will get five more. Students of I Year will be issued two tickets and the same will be continued for II and III year also. They can borrow books and keep in thier possession for a period of 15 days from the date of issue.
6. Books borrowed during vacation shall be returned not later than the third after the re-opening of the college. After the expiry of the date, a fine of One Rupee per day will be collected untill the books are returned.
7. All payments of fine etc. shall be paid in the college office and receipts are to be obtained.
8. Defaulters will not be permitted to use the library. Absence from the college is not excuse.
9. If a books is lost or damaged or soiled with marking ets., the borrower shall either replace it wil new one or pay double its cost.
10. The borrower shall bring to the librarian's notice any defect in the book at the time of borrowing.
11. No borrowed books shall be sub-lent to anyone.
12. At the end of the academic year, all the books borrowed by the members shall be returned. A fee Rs. 5/- shall be collected for a ticket lost.
13. Members of staff are entitled to suggest books to be purchased for the library thought their department heads. They have to get thier borrowed books renewed each term. Books unrelated to thier respective subjects may be borrowed for amonth only.
14. There shall be recall of books at the time of stock taking.
15. Whenever a member staff, teaching or non-teaching gets transfer, or goes on long leave or leaves the institution or retires form service, shall obtain 'No Dues' certificate from the Library.
16. Reference books and current periodicals cannot be borrowed or a taken out of the library. Only one periodical can be borrowed at a time with a due date.
